As you have guests visit this season, please share these standards
with them, both the summary below, as well as full details and guest
video at kica.us/guest.
• Be a Courteous Neighbor - Refrain from loud activity/noises,
turn off beachfront outdoor lighting at night from May - Oct.,
turn off outdoor lighting during designated hours.
• Garbage Disposal and Collection - Follow listed times
and locations for weekly collection. Place cans/bins out only
the night before collection, use trash receptacles on trails,
boardwalks and the beach.
• Pet Protocol - Observe times dogs are permitted on beach,
clean up after pets, follow leash regulations, keep dogs from
barking excessively.
• Bicycle and Skate Safety - Biking is not permitted on roads
where leisure trails are provided. Stop at all stop signs, walk bikes
when crossing road and boardwalks, no racing or speeding.
• Fireworks and Grilling - Fireworks are prohibited on
Kiawah. Do not use grills on wooden decks and balconies of
condos and villas.
• Vehicles and Parking - Obey the posted speed limits, display
your vehicle pass at all times; motorcycles, moped, jet skis/
wave runners are not permitted; no parking overnight on
any street; no parking on grass, roadsides or yards.
• Protect Wildlife and Yourself - Do not approach, feed or
taunt wildlife, especially alligators. Do not handle or disturb
sea turtle nests. Watch for deer and other wildlife on roads.
• Beach Safety - When leaving the beach, remove all beach
equipment (i.e. tents, chairs, umbrellas, etc.). Fill in holes
dug in sand. Driving and fires are not permitted on beach.
• In Case of Emergency - Please remember to always call 911
first. For Kiawah Island Security, call 843-768-5566. For
Town Code Enforcement, call 843-768-9166.
While vacation guests will have a specific rental agent and will
receive information from them, all visitors are subject to KICA
rules and standards, which can get lost in the packets of materials
vacation guests receive. Help keep Kiawah special by ensuring
