to attend the bi-monthly board
meetings. These meetings are held at
Beachwalker Center (23 Beachwalker
Drive) on Mondays (every other
month) at 1 p.m. with member
comments sessions held before and
after the meeting.

Ring in the New Year with a beach fun run at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort. This fun run will begin at the Sanctuary
beach access, running east toward the Ocean Course 1.55 miles, turning around and heading back to the finish line in
front of the Sanctuary Hotel.

Conservation Matters

Join Dr. Richard Porcher at The
Sandcastle as he shares the story of
how man and nature have shaped the
Lowcountry.
Over the last 11,000 years, man and
nature have worked together to shape
today’s Lowcountry, creating a rich and diverse landscape that
offers much for the naturalist to behold and enjoy. Come to
Conservation Matters and rediscover the Lowcountry landscape
with Dr. Richard Porcher - famed local botanist, author, and
dynamic speaker.

of Kiawah Island, and Kiawah Island Community Association.

Afterward, plunge into the New Year at the 2019 Polar Bear Plunge. Come and celebrate new beginnings with us
as we gather on Kiawah’s beach, just in front of the hotel to plunge into the Atlantic. Bring your own towel to this

Our World is a complimentary educational lecture series produced by KICA that provides
members with presentations by local experts on a wide variety of subjects. A light selection of wine
and cheese will be provided and members are encouraged to interact with speakers following their
discussions.
