2017 Horses and Riders
Cowgirl and Miranda Rawson Cowgirl is a 9-year-old dun mare owned by Grayson Knight and Sandra Large . She ’ s a goodlooking , athletic girl with a little spunk , a lot of “ try ” and a willingness to work hard for her rider .
Miranda met Cowgirl while training another horse for the owners and noted how reliable and steady the breed was . Miranda grew up showing in eventing , dressage and gymkhana , and even worked cutting horses in Texas . She is now a Clemson student majoring in Sociology and operates her horse training business part-time .
Jack and Amy Merritt Jack is a 14-year-old sorrel gelding , and Buck ’ s stable mate . Jack is a curious and playful guy , always greeting everyone at the gate in hopes of a few pats and peppermints . He is owned by Donna Jones .
Johns Islander Amy is a certified riding instructor and horse trainer . She ’ s a graduate of Meredith Manor International Equestrian College . Serious about horses , Amy ’ s fun-loving and free-spirited nature is a perfect match with Jack ’ s playfulness .
Jackie and Haley Waddell Jackie is a 4-year-old bay mare named in honor of CMTA Board Secretary Jackie McFadden , who is relentless in her efforts to preserve the breed . Jackie enjoys pleasure and trail riding , and has aspirations of becoming a therapy horse on John and Bly Worley ’ s faith-based ranch .
Haley has been riding her entire life and has enjoyed competing on the AGHA , SRA AND IHSA circuits . She enjoys broadening her knowledge of horse training techniques , sorting cows ( cutting ) and riding with friends .
Jefferson and Lindsey Loparo Thomas Jefferson Goodwin is a 6-year-old grullo gelding . Grullo is a striking black-based color with tan-gray body coloration . Jefferson and his stablemate Lily came all the way from Anderson with their owners MJ and Chris Goodwin .
Lindsey is a mass communication major at Lander University who still finds time to maintain her love of horses . Lindsey has won 19 ribbons with Jefferson . This pair aim to give the herd a run for the trophy today !
