Kelly will have to continue to work to find consensus on the budget and other policy initiatives . Kelly ’ s understanding of the politics and personalities in the legislature will continue to prove useful as she begins her second term as governor .
Attorney General . Kris Kobach revived his political career after recent electoral losses for governor and the United States Senate . Kobach successfully defeated Democrat Chris Mann 51 % to 49 %.
This was a hard-fought race which saw Kobach tone down some of the rhetoric from his past races . However , there is no doubt that Kobach will continue to be a torch bearer for conservative Republican policies .
Insurance Commissioner . The current Insurance
Commissioner Vicki Schmidt easily defeated her Democrat opponent Kiel Corkran by a 63-37 split . This total was nearly identical to her victory from four years earlier .
Secretary of State . The incumbent Secretary of State , Scott Schwab , was also successful in winning another term in the position . Schwab won 59-38 against Jeanna Repass , his Democrat opponent .
State Treasurer . Finally , current Republican State Representative Steven Johnson successfully defeated the Democrat incumbent and current State Treasurer Lynn Rogers by 54-41 . This result was a considerably wider margin than some politicos had anticipated . Johnson will bring his numerous years working on budget and financial issues as a legislator to the office .
