Claims Plan is insurance fraud under state law, and requiring insurance license applicants to disclose expunged insurance fraud convictions. These measures enhance the state’ s ability to prevent, investigate, and prosecute insurance fraud while helping protect Kansans from fraud-driven premium increases.
SB 23 Modernizes and streamlines insurance licensing and consumer complaint processes in Kansas by creating a suspension option for nonresident producers who fail to maintain an active resident license, providing a more proportionate alternative to full license revocation and allowing faster resolution of administrative cases.
The bill also establishes a uniform 14-calendar-day deadline for insurance companies, producers, and public adjusters to respond to consumer complaints
submitted to the Kansas Department of Insurance, improving consistency and responsiveness across the industry.
The HERO Act( Helping First Responders Overcoming Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) A program providing reimbursement for assessment and treatment of certain psychological conditions resulting from a duty related traumatic event. The reimbursements are administered by the Kansas Department of Insurance. The HERO Act will go into effect starting July 1, 2026.
