KANSAS AGENTS LEGISLATIVE DAY T he KAIA’s annual Kansas Agents Legislative Day was in Topeka on Wednesday March 8. Agents from across the state gathered to learn more about key issues affecting the industry and to discuss those issues one-on-one with their state legislators. The program included briefings from some of the state’s top insurance decision-makers followed by a reception and steak dinner for agents and legislators. This year the assembled KAIA members heard from Governor Sam Brownback, Speaker of the House Ron Ryckman Jr., Senator Jeff Longbine (Chair of the Senate Insurance Committee) and Representative Jene Vickery (Chair of the House Insurance Committee). Also, attendees received updates from key legislative leaders on the three major issues facin g the legislature this session: Budget, Taxes and K-12 Finance.
