Think of your association first when a need arises.
A s agents, there is always something to be assisting our clients with. Remarketing, coverage checklists, claims, a myriad of things. As agency principals, add on management duties, and there isn’ t enough time in the day. Where do we go when we need assistance? Our first option SHOULD be our association. As I mentioned in my last column, our association is to do together what we can’ t do alone. KAIA has utilized the knowledge of our excellent agents to gather the tools we need to fix our problems.
One day last week, I spent 30 minutes reviewing our KAIA website. The plethora of information available is incredible, and I found many things I had no idea we offered. Whether you need marketing materials, management assistance, or market access, KAIA and AScK have it covered.
The first items I found on the KAIA website were some management templates. Confidentiality, non-disclosure, sample producer agreements, agency fee agreements, and much more. Many of these are items I’ ve failed to look to the association for.
Next, I found a group of articles that could be very helpful with coverages and coverage descriptions. D & O laws, work comp, flood insurance, car rental coverage, the list is extensive. I can’ t count how many times I’ ve used the Bill Wilson article on car rental coverage to explain those needs to a client.

Beside Will Larson’ s photo, I found a list of the legal services offered to our agencies. One hour free each year to each member with any fees beyond that first hour going directly to KAIA. What a tremendous value for our members! I’ ve had Will assist me with two coverage issues over the last few years, and his knowledge is invaluable.
Virtual University, Trusted Choice marketing radio and print ads, Virtual Risk Consultant, the list is extensive. The value in our membership goes beyond our shared advocacy and extends to our individual bottom line. I encourage you to think of your association first when a need arises.
