Make a commitment
Becoming more involved in KAIA benefits you, and helps strengthen the state of our profession as well

T he New Year has started and your association has kicked it off with two tremendous events. With over 350 agents attending the Rural & Small conference at the end of January and an informative day at the Capitol Kansas Agents Legislative Day in early February, there is nothing stopping them now.
I’ d like to encourage you to make a commitment in 2016 to attend at least one event or class with KAIA. KAIA has an outstanding schedule put together for independent agents, including: continuation education classes, conferences, golf tournaments and Young Agent events.
In addition, I challenge you to find out how you can benefit from your membership with the Kansas Association of Insurance Agents.
Attend a Great Event KAIA puts on several major events each year: the Rural & Small Conference in January and the Leadership and Development Conference in October. These two conferences are packed with networking opportunities with fellow agents and companies, insights on industry changes and of course fun.
Consider Joining a Committee KAIA has over 10 committees that work with KAIA staff to bring advanced programs to our members. From the Events and Technology Committee to the Government Affairs Committee and Young Agents Committee; there is a place for everyone. By finding a group and bringing your insights you help grow the benefits that KAIA has to offer members.
Write an Article for the Newsletter or KAI & B Magazine Write an article for the newsletter or KIA & B Magazine. KAIA members have a wealth of knowledge. Are you an expert on a topic that you think other members should be more aware of? KAI & B is always looking for articles and wisdom to share.
Get to Know KAIA Legislative Priorities Knowing what is going on in the legislative arena is a great way to stay ahead of the game in your industry. With rules and regulations changing consistently at the Capitol, don’ t you want to know what is happening that can affect your organization? You may even assist in impacting the insurance industry in Kansas.
No matter what you do, become engaged in your association, introduce yourself to the staff and fellow members. Each has a wealth of knowledge and information that can help you, your agency and your business grow.
