Just say yes
Saying yes to the things that matter most will
protect and preserve our profession for years to come
DUSTY DAVIS
KAIA President
F
rom Steve Jobs on down the line, we’re told in
today’s world to “just say no.” Leadership books
and motivational speakers tell us time and time
again that if we say yes to everything we’ll wind
up taking on too much, and in the end accomplishing less.
They’re right – we can’t yes to everything. But, we can –
and should – say yes to the things that matter most.
what matters most
Like you, what matters most to me is my family, my
community and my profession. I commit to my family
every day and I commit to my community in a number of
ways through local boards and economic development
efforts. It’s not as easy to find the time to commit to our
profession. But, we need to.
Why? Quite frankly, because no one else will. As
independent agents, we’ve built and invested for nearly
100 years in our association – the Kansas Association of
Insurance Agents. Our association is strong because agents
today – and the agents who came before us – have said yes.
thank you for saying yes
I want to thank all of you who have said yes – not once, but
for many of you, you’ve said yes to our profession many
times over. You’ve participated in Rural & Small and the
recent Leadership & Development Conference ... you’ve
provided input and leadership as part of the association’s
committees ... you’ve testified before legislative
committees and helped show our strength in numbers
at Kansas Agents Legislative Day ... you’ve provided a
firsthand perspective of agency challenges so that our staff
could help address those challenges for the industry ...
and you’ve stepped up to serve on the KAIA board.
