The 11 surrendered or dormant pools include: n Builders Association Self-Insurance Fund of Kansas Became Builders Mutual Casualty Company on July 1, 2008 n Kansas Manufacturers and Commerce Self Insurers Fund Surrendered its certificate April 1, 1998 n Medicalodges Affiliates Workers Compensation Self Insurance Pool Surrendered its certificate on November 1, 1998 n Kansas Chamber of Commerce Workers Compensation Corporation Went dormant January 1, 1998 n Kansas Health Care Association Workers Compensation Insurance Trust Became dormant on February 1, 2007 n Western Association Self Insured Workers Compensation Trust Surrendered its certificate March 31, 2000 n Kansas Electric Cooperatives Workers Comp Group Self Insurers Pool Surrendered its certificate June 30, 1998 n Kansas Transportation and Industry Self Insurers Fund Surrendered its certificate April 1, 1998 n Kansas PIA Workers Compensation Corporation (Printing industry) Surrendered its certificate December 20, 2005 n Associated Builders & Contractors Self Insurers Fund, Inc. Surrendered its certificate November 22, 1999 n Kansas Aggregate Ready Mixed Association Self Insurance Fund Surrendered its certificate August 1, 1995 with $639,959 disbursed back to its members. Among the private pools, the Kansas Building Industry Fund, Kansas Association of Homes for the Aging Insurance Group, Kansas Automobile Dealers Workers Compensation Fund and Wichita Auto Dealers Self Insurance Fund also paid out dividends. Notably, the Kansas Building Industry Fund paid out $400,000 in dividends to its members despite an overall loss of $1.1 million for the year. Among the Log Home public pools, the Kansas Eastern Region Insurance Trust paid out the highest in dividends at $784,756. The Kansas Association of School Boards Workers Compensation Fund also paid out dividends ($274,952). premium earned The Kansas Building Industry Fund remains the largest in the state in terms of premium earned with $10.2 million, which is down slightly from $10.4 million the prior year. The Kansas County Association Multiline Pool and the Kansas Workers Risk Cooperative for Counties are the largest in terms of premium earned with $6.06 million and $5.8 million respectively. MID-CONTINENT GROUP negative balances & assessments The Kansas Employers Workers Compensation Fund continues to work toward a positive fund balance. The pool had managed the fund from a negative $1.48 million balance to a negative $647,823 balance in 2013, but experienced further losses in 2014, which increased the negative balance to $744,178. The Medicalodges Fund also continues to work toward a positive balance with a negative $37,171 in the fund for 2014.
