Legislative Day
ndependent agents and brokers showed their
strength March 4 at the Capitol during Kansas
Agents Legislative Day. The event, sponsored
by KAIA, drew more than 85 independent
agents and brokers to Topeka.

Participants visited the Capitol where they met with
Governor Brownback, observed committee hearings
and sat in on a session of the House. Afterward, the
group was briefed by some of the state’s top insurance
decision-makers on key issues affecting the industry
and consumers. That evening, nearly 80 legislators and
elected officials joined the agents at the KAIA office for a
reception and steak dinner.
In addition to briefings on industry-specific bills, the
group heard about the latest proposals regarding school
finance from Mark Tallman, associate director of the
Kansas Association of School B
