Love &Passion, Passion & Love
In the mind of Javier leonardo Perez Leon the world around us comes to life in a very different way. You may at first glance think these paintings are immature but look closer because within these images the psychology of the artist is revealed! His passion for the creative process is evident in the prolific nature of his production. His studio and home are filled with numerous painting in his unique style but with a very wide range of themes. Yet there are some streams of thought that are prevalent. The love he has for his muse and wife, who appears in many forms and poses is the most obvious of his themes. Vanessa Arte Iriarte has been his muse, his manager and is obviously the inspiration of his passions.
Then there are the other themes that are all connected through his natural approach to imagery. The figures are distorted and often upon closer inspection composed of surreal elements. They are not complete, or have limbs that are void of flesh and bone exposed. They float in a nether world, and offer advice from a ghost like realm. Aspects of Peruvian history are mixed with art history, and the artist's contemporary surrounding. In some ways we are invited into a fantasy that is both erotic, and playful, while being serious.
