MY SESSION 11: KNOWING AND UNDERSTANDING (PARTCHILD (DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN) 1) Session 11 OBJECTIVES The following objectives are set for Session 11: At the end of the session the women should - be able to understand what the development tasks of the different age groups - have knowledge of what the role of the parent or caregiver is in the development - know what it means if a child is resilient. are; of the child; and PREPARATION Prepare for the discussion. It is important that you take yourself mentally through the process of the type of questions that can be raised and reflect on how to facilitate the group, so that the core concepts can be addressed. Allow the group to discuss uncertainties they have about being a parent. MATERIALS The following will be needed for this session: - Paper and pen to take the register and for notes on the session. - Flip chart, whiteboard markers and stand - Dolls/puppets/pictures that resemble different age groups, e.g. baby in a crib; if possible girl and boy dolls.
