Link the ice-breaker with survival skills. Tell the group that in the ship exercise everybody had to work together to survive/live. In daily
life we also have to work together in our families to get certain tasks done. It is necessary to know how to do these tasks.
Discussion
Discuss what tasks need to be done in a household.
-
Ask the group to list a few household chores/tasks and what actions are needed to complete each task.
-
Ask the group who is responsible for each of these tasks in their household.
-
Brainstorm ideas of how to make these chores fun. The facilitator must take the lead, i.e., when helping a younger sibling to bath,
show him or her how to make soap beards (take a wash cloth and fold it 3 times in length. Put soap on the outer layer. By blowing
through the inner layer, white soap bubbles will appear that look like a beard. Demonstrate this in activity 1).
We have a break halfway through the session, during which the children can go to the bathroom.
