Activity 3: The Fire
Linda and Joseph liked to play with their friends, Puli and Suria. One day Linda, Joseph, Puli, and Suria went to play near the sea,
which was not far from their homes. Their favourite spot where they usually played was surrounded by shrubs and covered by soft
grass. There was a small dam nearby. The four children often went to the dam to watch the wild ducks in the water. They also played
many games on the sand.
Linda, Joseph, Puli, and Suria played and played at the dam until they were very tired. They decided to go back to their favourite place
to rest. There was a light sea breeze. It got cold. When the children started to shiver, Joseph took out a box of matches from his
pocket.
"Let us make a fire," said Joseph. The children collected dry leaves, grass and twigs to make a fire. Quickly they made a fire. They
spread their hands over the flames and smiled. They felt warm.
