SESSION 6: IDENTIFY COPING THAT IS LINKED TO IDENTIFIED STRENGTHS 'WHAT CAN I DO/WHAT AM I GOOD AT?' Session 6 OBJECTIVES The following objectives are set for Session 6: At the end of the session the children should be able to - describe a situation they experienced as difficult and what they did to cope with it (they have to connect their coping style with their own strengths and abilities); - describe what it means to resolve a problem (a problem cannot always "be fixed", but you can do something to get through it); and - identify ways of coping with stressors. SESSION 6: PROGRAMME - Welcome - The feeling thermometer - Climbing down the Tree exercise - Breathing exercise - ice-breaker - Activity 1 - Same and different - Break - Activity 2 - Strengths exercise - Discuss - Activity 3 - Puppet play (scenarios) - Ending: What was today about? - Climbing up the Tree exercise PREPARATION - Attentively read through the exercise. - Prepare for discussion. - Take yourself mentally through the process of the type of questions that can be raised and reflect on how to facilitate the group, so that the core concepts can be addressed.
