DESCRIBE SELF AND FAMILY WITHIN COMMUNITY
'MY COMMUNITY'
OBJECTIVES
The following objectives are set for Session 4:
At the end of the session the children should be able to
describe family values (e.g., things that their caregivers encourage them to do and
discourage them to do);
identify several community values and talk about how they are similar/dissimilar to
family values (e.g., unique things about all of us, and also ways in which we are all the
same);
discuss if they agree or disagree with the above values identified; and
describe central aspects of their community (where they live, other kids in the community
they play with, and resources in the community).

PREPARATION
Make sure you understand the concept 'asset mapping' and how to draw asset-maps. Before
facilitating Session 4, draw up your own asset-map as a facilitator and reflect on it

Photocopy on cardboard with community members
Crayons
Old magazines
Scissors
