II. PREPARATION FOR THE
SUPPORT GROUPS
MEETING WITH STAKEHOLDERS
Before starting the intervention programme, there will be a meeting that all facilitators are required to attend. It is of vital importance
to ensure that all the groups are receiving the same quality of intervention. As a facilitator, you are required to attend this session.
During this meeting, the programme will be discussed as well as your role and responsibilities as a facilitator.
SKILLS TRAINING OF FACILITATORS
Basic skills training are recommended for the group facilitators. A background to the following skills is recommended: facilitation skills,
problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills, HIV/Aids knowledge, basic counselling skills, identification of children's problematic behaviour
and group dynamics.
RECORDING SYSTEM
Each session must be documented. This implies that the facilitator is required to keep a list of the attendees for each session. Process
and content notes must be compiled by the facilitator and handed in to the social worker to ensure that reliable data are generated.
