The loss of elasticity
causes the onset of numerous
pathologies, or their worsening like
cardiac insufficiency, ruptured
aneurysm, emphysema, etc. Genital
prolapse ("organ descent") has been
demonstrated in mice as being
linked to a genetic malformation of
elastic tissues. One practical
manifestation of elastic aging is also
observed after the menopause.
