Hawaii’s own “Common Difference” o H p Hi pCOMMON u o r pG DIFFERENCE Hailing from Hawaii, this group has got what it takes to take their career to the next level. They have style, professionalism, great music, great show performance, and skills. KeyLine recently sponsored an event in Hawaii called “Ho est in Hawaii” presented by Allicat Entertainment, and Common Difference won First place in the contest. They blow the crowd and judges away, which included Freeway Rick Ross and Suave Churchill of Rick Ross Music Group. We got the chance to speak with the group and get to know more about them. Check out our interview with Common Difference. KeyLine: How did you 3 team up to form this group? Kris: The boys actually knew each other and was doing music together before I came into the picture. I met them back in the fall of 2008. Dusa: Me and Ham was actually doing music since 2006. We met Kris through her cousin, who was a classmate of mine. She was telling me she had a cousin who could sing, so I told her to tell Kris to hit me up. A er that we just started collabora ng with Kris. Ham: A er making a few songs with Kris we all just decided to be a group since we kept making songs together. Which this then lead to our first project called 'Passions to Professions. KeyLine: Is there a specific meaning to your name "Common Difference"? Common Difference: The "Common" part comes from all of us sharing the same passion and love for music. We all understand what music can do for our lives and how it can help our families. The "Difference" comes from the differences in upbringings and musical backgrounds. We have different insights on music which generally sets us a part from one another. KeyLine: How is the vibe (Krista) working with 2 men and you being the only lady in the group? Kris: When I first started working with them, most mes I just sat back and observed, because I didnt know how to exactly create a song. I mean I did covers on the ukulele and some mes wrote my own stuff but I didnt know exactly how to properly compose a song from beginning to end. The guys didn't care though, because I knew how to sing and come up with nice melodies and tones. A er teaching me how to compose songs, everything went up from there. We all vibe together like we family. We've never had confronta ons or never seen eye to eye on something just because im a girl. They've never beli led or ignored anything I've done or said because I'm the girl in the group. They both real easy to work with, but you got to be tough and ego s cal to be working with these fools haha. But I think in general, women who's trying to be apart of anything thats male dominated, you got to be tough and keep it strong. When we make music together we find a beat we all like and just start vibing, throwing out melody ideas, words, topics etc.
