Book Day
I liked the Big Read when I sat
on my pillow reading. Alessia
Reading the myths we wrote: We arrived
all dressed up in our favourite book
character with the most popular book
character being Harry Potter! Next we met
the author of the book trilogy ‘Sea Bean’,
‘Sea War’ and ‘Sea Rise’ who was called
Sarah Holding. We did a thrilling workshop
where she read out an extract and wrote a
small paragraph after the scene describing
how we thought it would turn out. After the
Year 5 came to our classroom to read
workshop we undertook a Book Day quiz
to us and Felix read ‘The Pirate Fairy’
which involved working out the title and the
to me. I really enjoyed the story
author of the books on the screen and we
especially the voices that Felix used for
were asked questions about book
the characters. Zoya Year 1
characters and authors. It was loads of fun
and my team did very well!
I loved it when the big
children came into my class
to read a story. Daniel NY
Next, there was the ‘Big Read’ where we all
got comfortable and read for about 40
minutes. We had an amazing relaxing time
on cushions and tables! Finally we had an
experience of reading our myths to Year 5.
We had been working on them for a term
and this was the climax of a thoroughly
enjoyable project!
Without a doubt this was the best Book Day
ever and all the pupils had an absolute blast
embracing their love of reading! Leo Year 6
Mrs Tabor read us the story of ‘The
Stick Man’ and she was dressed up
as the character. She looked very
funny and I really enjoyed listening
to the story. Isabel A Yr 1
