Film Night
A hot favourite with the Year 5 and 6 pupils is Film Night . This year the children donned their onesies and PJs and decked the Hall with their pillows and cuddly toys to enjoy ‘ ELF ’. The evening was such a rip-roaring success that it is to become an annual event .
Quiz Night
Another eagerly anticipated event is the KCF Annual Quiz . This year 17 tables of parents and 1 brave set of teachers set out to be crowned KCF ’ s Quiz by Candlelight Champion . In the hotly contested battle of wits , particpants had to field questions in the truly important categories of : space , spice detection , notorious assassinations attempts , one hit wonders of the 80 ’ s , renowned sportspeople and their partners , fictional places in literature , famous nicknames , and a Star Wars round . In the end , there could be only one winner and the lofty accolade went to the Nursery newcomers , ‘ Kew-ed Up ’! Well done to all the brainiacs who took part . Redemption awaits in 2017 . It is never too early to prepare !
Secret Santa
Festive jumpers embossed with a variety of Santas , Christmas trees , reindeers , snowmen and snowflakes dominated the day in the now infamous Secret Santa event . The top of the school was full of presents , lights , tinsel , Christmas music and eager children as Secret Santa arrived and , in time-honoured tradition , inhabited his secret grotto . The wonderful KCF and their helpers excelled in providing a day of immense fun and Christmas shopping by eager girls and boys for Mummies and Daddies .
Cake Sales and other events
At numerous school functions KCF support the school by helping out , baking cakes , talking to prospective parents , organising Art and other competitions , delivering Christmas cards to name but a few . The list is endless .
Fundraising for the school
On behalf of the parents at Kew College , KCF fundraising events have purchased the following for the school : 40 iPads , 24 mini iPads and recharging trolleys ; a Clavinova digital piano , a Yamaha piano and percussion instruments for the Music Department ; hurdles and various gym equipment for the Sports Department ; camera and zoom lens for capturing those ‘ moments ’ over the school year ; a PA System for events such as Sports Day and the Summer Fair ; tricycles , scooters , puppets and train sets ; Maths resources and Lego for the Infant House ; microscopes , cameras , digital audio system , visualisers and games for the Junior House . In addition , we have funded the Year 6 First Aid course , half of their Stride Business Initiative Courses and made a contribution towards the Year 6 leavers gifts . Finally a fantastic sum of £ 27,000 has recently been donated towards the new School Library . The parents of the school have been hugely supportive in every initiative and the whole school community is incredibly grateful .
