Kew College Friends Kew College Friends (KCF) is a committee run by parents; they fundraise for the School’s chosen charity, buy ‘extras’ for the children and organise social events for the school community. There are many sub-committees so that the wider parent body can get involved with each event. The committee meets monthly and relies on the generosity of parents to make it all happen. In recent years they have supported - Sport for All , The Sick Children's Trust, 'Médicins sans Frontières', Just a Drop, Small Steps, RNIB, Riding for the Disabled and GOSH. This year, the focus is on The Alzheimer's Society. These pages will give you an idea of some of the events over the past year. Disco KCF organise two discos for the children in the Autumn Term. They are always eagerly anticipated and immensely enjoyable. Separate discos are held for the Infant House and the Junior House (including Year 2 ). The Infant House children are entertained by Mr Marvel and his magic show and enjoy dancing and games. The Junior House disco is a more sophisticated affair, held on a Saturday evening at the Barn Church, where the 82 School Fair competitive dancing is taken to a higher level. Girls and boys compete for the title, ’Best dancer’, and are entertained by Pop Starz, whilst parents take a break in a separate room to enjoy a drink and a chat. It's definitely a memorable evening for everyone. Every summer KCF and numerous parent helpers set up and host a magnificent summer fair. The children enjoy a variety of exciting activities and incredibly popular popcorn and candyfloss stalls! There is a lot to entertain the adults too from the delicious Macken’s sausages and burgers to the new addition of a champagne bar. It is true to say, that this day is months of hard work in the making, but is rewarded with a fabulous outcome. Events like this add to the wonderful family atmosphere and sense of community that is our school.
