Stride—A business experience
In the Spring Term, we welcomed the Stride team back for a
third successive year, to introduce business skills to Year 6 pupils
in a fun and interactive way. Through a series of workshops, the
children designed and marketed their own products, culminating
in a wonderful Enterprise Fair for the whole school community.
They learnt the basic skills required to run a successful business,
aiming to make a profit from their sales. An upfront £40 loan
resulted in a profit of more than £100 for every group and a total
profit of £766. All teams took measured risks to devise
innovative products and use clever and imaginative marketing
strategies—their ingenuity was to be admired!
A valuable lesson the children took away from their enterprise
experience was: “The best investment you can make is an
investment in yourself; the more you learn, the more you’ll
earn!”
