Geography In Year 4, the children learned important mapping skills during their study of Russia. Each pupil traced the physical and human features of the country and developed their understanding of maps by looking at rivers, mountain ranges, bordering countries, oceans lakes and capital cities. During the Summer Term, pupils worked collaboratively to produce their own geographical information books. They researched and wrote about the Earth, natural disasters, the continents, seas and oceans. This year, Year 3 have located and studied counties and cities across the United Kingdom and the world, identifying human and physical characteristics and land-use patterns. We created tourist guides for different areas of the UK. We chose our own study area and investigated some of the key tourist attractions. Orla The children looked at the UK and Saint Lucia, developing an understanding of geographical similarities and differences through the study of human and physical geography. This included looking at types of settlement, economic activity and the distribution of natural resources. 65
