Year 4

The Victoria and Albert Museum

Year Four spent the day at the Victoria and Albert Museum marvelling at various artefacts from distant lands . The trip started with great excitement as we travelled on the London Underground to South Kensington . We learnt about customs and cultures from the Middle East and Asia .
Hana and Evie wrote the following : We packed our bags and set off on our long journey to Kew Gardens Station to catch The Tube - it was only a five-minute walk . When we arrived at South Kensington Station we were allocated into groups and walked up the long passageway to the V & A Museum . First , we travelled across the museum to see artefacts from China . There we saw beautiful ornaments , clothes and furniture . We were given drawing books and had to find and draw the mysterious red dragon throne . Then , we travelled across the V & A and discovered precious things from Japan . As we journeyed through Japanese culture we saw beautiful boxes , detailed and colourful vases , samurai swords , Japanese armour and netsukes ( small sculptural objects ). We decided to draw some of the beautiful kimonos in our books . Next , we took a trip to the Indian room to view some wonderfully coloured carpets and peculiar teapots . To finish our trip we sat in a wooden sphere and talked about what we had learnt .
” The highlight of the whole trip for me was being able to draw the objects first-hand .” Aaryan
