Staff News Mrs Maria Lovell, our much loved and longstanding Head of Maths is retiring this year. She has kindly offered to stay with us until February half term to see our Year 5 children through their exams and to support her replacement. This selfless support of our pupils defines Mrs Lovell – ever generous with her time, proactive in her approach to ensure that no child slips the net, creative in her teaching techniques (fraction island is almost as legend as Mrs Lovell herself), determined in her bid to make Maths achievable (and indeed likeable) for all – this inspirational teacher who goes above and beyond, will remain in our hearts . The children, like us, simply adore her. Suffice to say, Mrs Lovell’s warmth and passion will pervade our rooms forever! We are saying a sad farewell to Mr David Brennan after two years at Kew College. He is going on to fulfil his ambitions and we wish him the very best of luck for his future. Mrs Ava-Lee Clarke is leaving us to move up to Kingston Grammar with a pupil she has been working with. We hope that she is as happy at her new school as she was with us. Mrs Kim El-baz has joined us to work on a part-time basis as our Compliance Officer. We are delighted to welcome her to the team. Ms Christine Chui has joined us to become Head of Maths and to take over the Curriculum Coordinator role. We are thrilled to welcome her to the teaching team. Mr Hywel Davies, who worked as a TA in Year 3, has qualified as a Level 3 FA Sports Coach and will be following his passion for football in the future. We wish him the best of luck. Mrs Emily Scoffield will be on Maternity Leave next year; her baby is due in September. We look forward to hearing her wonderful news in due course. Mrs Kate Keightley is returning to us on a part time basis after having her baby, to teach Science to Years 5 and 6. We are delighted to have her back in the fold. Mr Christopher Whotton has joined the team to work as a Year 3 TA and on the Games Field. We are very pleased to wel- come him to Kew College. 107
