Clubs The Children have been using their creative minds and skills in Arts and Crafts Club this year. They have designed, created and completed a number of projects over the year experimenting with a variety of materials. Projects included frame decorating, candle making, designing their own Beatz Beatz Club has had another great year on the Kew College music scene! We were grateful to be donated new African Djembe’s by KCF and enjoyed playing songs from various genres of music, from the reggae-funk tunes of Fat Freddy’s Drop, to This new club started in the Spring Term and enables the children to work on team challenges, as well individual projects . The ‘Marble Our avid digital photographers have continued to create some stunning images in our club sessions. We searched high and low around the school to 102 Chess regional and national level. Playing in such events has a significa nt effect on the improvement rate and adds a competitive edge. Challenge’ saw the children working enthusiastically to see how slowly they could get a marble to pass through a channel of tubes. The kaleidoscopes were a huge hit and all children made their very own model to take home and enjoy. Our orators at Kew College have conducted debates on many different topics linked to current events and subjects of their choice. They have held formal debates in which they examine ideas and policies with the aim of persuading people within an organised structure. Pupils have the opportunity to consider the world around them by thinking about different Digital Photography backpacks, clay and salt dough creations and tie dye t-shirts. The highlight of the year came when we performed Glass Animals ‘Life Itself’ at the Spring Con- cert. Chess is a very popular club at Kew College. Every term we run a school tournament with prizes for the top 3 players, and every year in the Spring Term we enter the Delancey Schools UK Chess Challenge - the biggest junior tournament in the country with many qualifying stages – school, Design and Technology Arts & Crafts Debating arguments, engaging with opposing views and speaking strategically. Learning how to put forward arguments with confidence and knowing the best way to reply when questioned, has been key to high quality debate. capture shots that could then be manipulated in Photoshop to produce collages. The children also learnt to use Stop Frame Animation and the Christmas themed animations were as much fun to produce as to watch. The aim of Drama Club is to introduce the pupils to Drama techniques, language and skills through a variety of themes and contexts. It is an opportunity for them to stretch their imagination, collaborate with others and make the most of their individual Drama talents and interests. The children developed their performance skills through the use of improvisational games, creative drama activities, monologues, duologues and role play activities. The course culminates in a performance for family in the final week.
