History

Year 2 visited The Holly Lodge Centre in Richmond Park . The trip was designed to help us understand how life has changed in our homes since Queen Victoria was on the throne . It housed many household items that we recognise today and we had to match them with the Victorian equivalent . We matched toasters and toas ng forks , hot water bo les , curlers and tongs , and a real old policeman ’ s torch . The trip gave us a real feel for the past and brought the topic to life .
In the Summer term , Year 3 worked on presenta on and research skills . Using Ipads they researched for their reports on life in Britain during the Roman period . Once these were completed , they enjoyed presen ng their findings to the rest of the class .
Year 4 enjoyed the long awaited Viking Workshop that gave them first hand experience learning about Viking life and travel . The children enjoyed weaving , sewing a sail , shield making and of course , construc ng and sailing the Viking Longboat ! Later we tried making our own Longboats and shields . ‘ We had no idea how heavy a Viking shield was un l we tried to li it for a minute .‘ Nicholai
