School Council

The pupil voice is strong in school with a number of new ini a ves being introduced over the year as a result of their passionate pleas and cogent arguments . The Tuck Shop was one of the many such ini a ves . Pupils across the school joined staff on a shopping spree to Sainsbury ' s to purchase op ons which were decided on democra cally . It was a rip-roaring success , deligh ng children across the school with its fruit and gluten free op ons as well as hot favourites such as popcorn .

Board Games at Lunch me Another School

Council ini a ve got underway this year , namely the newly introduced lunch me board games in the Hall . What a delight it was to see children animated in the midst of games of Chess , Uno , cards and Ba leships amongst others . Well done to the School Council !

Trouser Op on for Girls There ’ s a lovely story behind this very posi ve change to our girls ’ uniform . It started with Flora , a Year 1 pupil , who felt so strongly that trousers should be on the agenda for girls , that she was compelled to write a hear elt plea to the Head . Flora agreed that the ma er should go to the School Council for further discussion . It

is heart-warming to see our young ambassadors become the advocates for change and bringing st
the school into the 21 century . The introduc on of these ini a ves is a true reflec on that our pupils have a voice . We are very proud of Flora for the strength of character she displayed in coming forward to put across her point of view . We also extend our congratula ons to her for the large part she played in helping to bring about this change in the school !

Reduc on of single use plas cs

It was a delight to hear the views of a group of Year 1 girls who felt passionate about the nega ve impact plas cs are having on the environment . The pupils produced a poster to indicate the damage that overuse of plas c is causing . They met with the School Council with a view to urgent ac on being taken in the school to reduce the use of disposable plas c bo les , plas c ziplock bags and plas c bags . It is wonderful that they feel comfortable to put their thoughts forward and know that they will be heard . As a result the school has adopted a policy of no single use plas cs and introduced new metal drinks bo les to help with this cause . Well done to Isabella , Hanna , Lara , Flora , Poppy and Alayna .
