Orange Tree Theatre – The Merchant of Venice

The children completed workshops and then visited the Orange Tree Theatre to see The Merchant of Venice . They watched a modern day version , and were invited to be part of the show .
Pupils were able to relate to the characters and understand the plot that Shakespeare had weaved so cleverly .

France 2018

Year 6 enjoyed a sunny , fun filled week in Normandy . They woke to beau ful sunshine each morning and feasted on croissants and hot chocolate , ready for the morning ac vi es . Canoe , mud assault course and aeroball were par cular treats each morning . The a ernoon sessions comprised lots of ac vi es including photography and circus skills , bread making and French lessons .
Their first ou ng was to Villedieu market . With euros in hand , the children used their growing language skills to barter for their goodies : sweets , hats and gi s for home . A er a picnic lunch , the a ernoon presented yet more ac vi es including climbing , archery , circus skills and more canoeing .
Wednesday evening involved a treasure hunt , ( in French ) and the much an cipated French evening , complete with the op onal delicacy – les escargots ! The children then le for the D-Day beaches on Thursday and a visit to the 360 cinema in Arromanches to view a moving film about the D- Day landings and the end of WW2 . They watched and listened intently to the story about the libera on of France . From there , they headed to the American War Cemetery at Coleville Sur Mer , where they showed enormous respect and asked though ul ques ons . Back at the chateau , a BBQ was consumed , followed by a talent show , which highlighted our Kew College talent ! We won many awards during the evening !
