Clubs

This year we spent our Tuesday a ernoons travelling around the globe . Upon entering the classroom , children received a stamp in their ‘ passport ’ and we were off ! Our first stop was the USA . Doughnuts were sampled and line dances were choreographed . Next , we cooked a er devouring homemade French toast .

Around the World

We made cherry blossom paper fans in Japan , deciphered hieroglyphics in Egypt and explored the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil . The children par cularly enjoyed the ‘ stroofwafels ’ from Amsterdam and our fast paced mini Olympics .

Athle cs

This club gives the best possible coaching across various athle c disciplines as well as training key motor skills in a fun environment . In a nutshell , we love to get children running faster , jumping longer and throwing further whilst enjoying themselves . Club members consistently say that their achievements are noted on the Games Field and they feel proud !
The children have created some fabulous masterpieces in Arts and Cra s club this year . They have completed projects where they have had to plan , design and produce their own baseball caps , pencil cases and board games . The children have used their imagina ons , crea ve and cri cal thinking

skills in order to produce some outstanding pieces of art . They have thoroughly enjoyed each project and have been delighted with the outcome of their art and cra s tasks . The children ended this year with some truly imagina ve and hilarious stop mo on films .

Beatz Club has had another great year on the Kew College music scene ! We were grateful to be donated new African Djembe ’ s by KCF and enjoyed playing songs from various genres of music , from the

Junior Fine Art

Chess is a very popular club at Kew College . Every term we run a school tournament with prizes for the top 3 players , and every year in the Spring Term we enter the Delancey Schools UK Chess Challenge - the biggest junior tournament in the country with many qualifying stages –
reggae-funk tunes of Fat Freddy ’ s Drop , to the old-school ska tracks of Toots & The Maytals . The highlight of the year came when we performed Glass Animals ‘ Life Itself ’ at the Spring Concert .
This new club was introduced to help spur on and inspire children in the Junior House to develop their ar s c abili es . We looked at some formal s ll-life pain ng techniques as well as drawing skills . The boys and girls who took part in the club were able to experiment with their own ideas and a good splash of colour to see their crea ons come to life .

Our orators at Kew College have conducted debates on many different topics linked to current events and subjects of their choice . They have held formal debates in which they examine ideas and policies with the aim of persuading people within an organised structure . have the opportunity to consider the world around them

by thinking about different arguments , engaging with opposing views and speaking strategically . Learning how to put forward arguments with confidence and knowing the best way to reply when ques oned , has been key to high quality debate .
