EXTRA TIME Horror World Cup Draw For African Teams The five African representatives will be facing an uphill struggle in Brazil after a ‘horror’ world cup draw was unveiled on Friday. GROUP A (CAMEROON) Cameroon will face the hosts Brazil, Croatia and Mexico. A tough group considering the west African nation are not as indomitable as they were back then. It is really hard to see them progressing past this group. Croatia and Mexico may not be better defensively but they may prove uncomfortable opponents for Cameroon. GROUP C (IVORY COAST) African representatives in group C Ivory Coast, seems to have finally slaughtered a white goat to appease the footballing gods. They have been in tough groups in the past two world cups so I think they are currently breathing a sigh of relief. That being said, this group still contains quality teams and it will be up to Didier Drogba’s golden generation to prove that they are still valuable. They face the fourth best team in the world right now according to the latest FIFA rankings in Colombia. Other teams include Asian powerhouses Japan and the gritty Greeks who have kept eight clean sheets in their last 10 matches which is essentially more than any other nation. Their power and experience will be key if they are to qualify.
