HOCKEY The ZUBL(Zuku University Basketball league) 2014 season will have a different look. Uganda universities for the first time in its existence will join the league together with more other universities across the nation. This will enhance stiffer competition to the now 58 teams. Main sponsors Zuku Tv promised too to air more live matches in order expose talents and generate more interest of the game in the expanding sports world. FOOTBALL It hasn’t been a successful year for the lovers of the game of sticks in the county as the national team failed to book a ticket to the Hague next year in the just concluded African Cup of Nations tournament. Kenyan clubs (Telkom Orange and Strathmore in girls category and Nairobi and Police in the men category) will be firing from all cylinders to redeem the image of the country’s hockey when the Hockey club championship returns next year. Telkom Orange will be going all out to defend the African club championship tittle in the ladies category but will have to face a stiff competition from Egyptian side Sharkia Hockey Club who will be coming to clinch the same accolade for a record 22nd time when the week long tournament kicks off in Kampala Uganda from the 18th of January.
