Saint Joseph East Achieves National
Bariatric Surgery Accreditation
Lexington Clinic Hosts Multiple
Presentations During Month of April
Lexington, Ky. (May 11, 2015)—Saint Joseph East,
part of KentuckyOne Health, has been accredited
as a comprehensive center under the Metabolic
and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality
Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), a joint program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS)
and the American Society for Metabolic and
Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).
LEXINGTON, Ky. – May 6, 2015 – In April,
Lexington Clinic hosted multiple presentations
for physicians, providers and staff. These presentations provided a unique opportunity for those in
attendance to further their knowledge on issues
surrounding the medical community. The presentations included:
Melissa L. Currie, M.D., Medical Director and
Division Chief, Kosair Charities Division of
Pediatric Forensic Medicine, and Peter W. Hester,
M.D., Lexington Clinic orthopedic physician presented continuing medical education (CME) presentations, “Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma” and
“The Clinician’s Role in Concussion Assessment
and Management.”
Hospice of the Bluegrass and Andy
Barr for Quality Hospice Care
Hospice of the Bluegrass CEO Liz Fowler and
other hospice leaders met with Congressman Andy
Barr to advocate for increased access to high quality
hospice care. The meeting took place during the
National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s
2015 Management and Leadership Conference.

Lexington Clinic Orthopedic
Surgeons Present at Annual Meeting
W. Ben Kibler, M.D., F.A.C.S.M., and Trevor W.
Wilkes, M.D., both Lexington Clinic orthopedic
surgeons, presented a continuing medical education
(CME) instructional course at the annual national
meeting of the Arthroscopy Association of North
America (AANA).
Specifically, the CME course focused on shoulder
injuries to the scapula, clavicle and AC joint. The
two surgeons collaborated with Dr. Ben Rubin, a
surgeon from Southern California on the presentation. Approximately 500 attendees were at the
annual meeting, held in April.
