BOYS HALL
usband-and-wife duo Brad and Kristie Lomas
Hpurchased Boys Hall , a 17th-century Jacobean Manor in Ashford , in 2019 . Restored and revived , the Wealden Hall house has been transformed into a restaurant with nine stunning bedrooms .
Designed by Kristie with the help of Tenterden-based Kagu Interiors , the building ’ s history and character oozes out of the walls and oak-timbered ceilings of its rich , textured rooms . In the nine en-suite bedrooms , you ’ ll find ancient oak furniture , mullion windows framing sweeping views and four-poster beds cocooned in Farrow & Ball hues and opulent fabrics .
The restaurant is housed in a capacious beamed dining room constructed with local oak and features a stunning open fireplace and glass walls on both sides so that every guest can enjoy views over the stunning gardens and terraces . Head chef Charlie Dilworth has created delicious menus centered around seasonal , local produce and the inviting pub with original wood cladding is just the place for a pint of local ale and a snack .
Brad and Kristie have also built a kitchen garden and produce their own honey from two beehives . For those that fancy a local tipple , Boys Hall are huge advocates of Kentish wine – so much so that they produce their own variety with Penstock Winery - and they showcase a further 10 local vineyards on their wine list .
With its walled garden and plans for more rooms on the grounds and former stables , this doesn ’ t just feel like the revival of a sagging heritage building , but the birth of Kent ’ s neglected heartland as a destination .
