Cable Pulldown excercise technique provided by Neal Andrews, Exercise & Fitness Specialist with the Montana University System Wellness program. The cable pulldown is a machine found in most gyms, and is a very effective, functional, upper-body pulling exercise to include in your lifting routine. For more exercise tips, consult a local trainer. As always, consult your doctor before beginning any new exercise routine.
The row is an excellent upper body exercise. Cable row machines can be found in virtually any gym. Correct row technique trains the mid-traps and rhomboid muscles in the upper back, the anterior shoulder, the biceps, and is good for grip strength. In addition, rowing is great for posture and is a very "functional" exercise, as it mimics a pulling motion most people use throughout the day for various activities. Neal Andrews, Fitness Specialist with Montana University System Wellness, and Amy Bloemendal from Montana State University Sports and Rec, teach basic fundamentals of the wide-grip cable row.
