After Interserve lost the United States Visiting Forces contract I was initially TUPE ’ d across to Engie .
However , soon after was offered the opportunity to move to Amey as the managing Authorised Person . Amey had taken on a bridging contract till a more permanent contractor was sourced for the USVF contract .
Whilst my role encompassed what I did with Interserve there were a few additional duties . In this position I oversaw , managed , organised and trained a team of AP ’ s to perform their duties on the United States Visiting Forces ( USVFF ) contract serving both American and British bases around the UK . I was regularly involved in AP duties when required and possessed 49 varying AP / site appointments across Electrical , Mechanical , Petroleum , Working at Height and Confined Spaces disciplines and as such was the most experienced AP on this contract .
I was in daily contact with the Authorising Engineers ( AE ’ s ) keeping them up to date on the site processes and procedures and regularly taking part in audits to ensure compliance of the Safe Systems of Work .
Work Experience
January 2024 - Present Trainee Authorising Engineer
• Trainee Authorising Engineer , with a focus on electrical disciplines : Low Voltage , High Voltage .
• Applying knowledge and experience as an AP to support Safe Systems of Work within client organisations , adhering to Statutory Requirements and Company Safety Rules and Procedures .
December 2022 – December 2023 Senior Mobile Authorised Person , Vivo , USVF Site
After Amey lost the United States Visiting Forces contract , I was TUPE ’ d to Vivo . My role encompassed what I have been doing since Amey I have also gained a new technical officer role which includes overseeing projects , reviewing designs , being a subject matter expert from scoping to final commissioning and handover for all major projects that involve electrical , mechanical , petroleum , confined space or high risk working at height elements . I have recently been instrumental to several upgrade projects including 11kv distribution upgrades , standby systems and new fuel intrastructure .
April 2019 – December 2019
Technical Officer / Authorised Person ( Electrical and Working at Height ), Interserve , USVF Site
• Carrying out day to day AP duties as required by JSP 375 Volume 3 . Be part of the AP emergency on call roster the USVF contract .
• Supervising staff and subcontractors , monitoring the safe system of work , policies and procedures .
• Ensuring for defined area of appointment that Asset Management Systems are being maintained for full compliance against Statutory and Regulatory Requirement tasks .
• Reviewing and updating Computer Aided Facilites Management ( CAFM ) / Planned Programme Maintenance ( PPM ) requirements against Customer Assets to ensure correct association of tasking schedules .
• Considering Asset Priority , usage and over-riding requirements such as Customer and UK Defence standards .
• Progress Reactive Maintenance tasks , ensuring that all tasks arising from the help desk or as the result of PPM remedial tasks are being correctly processed and that a clear audit trail exists .
• Ensuring that for all maintenance and inspections tasks that highlight an unsatisfactory condition are correctly processed in accordance with Contract Standards and asset priority , and that risk and / or liability to all stakeholders is being properly communicated .
• Implemented policies on Health & Safety ( H & S ), Quality Assurance ( QA ), Sustainability & the Environment in conjunction with Contract base and corporate support teams .
• Regular liaison with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation ( DIO ) & Customer Facilities Management personnel and end users discussing and validating service delivery .
