From the Archives
The University Archives holds over 10,000 prints and slides documenting the history of Gwynedd Mercy University .
Some , like this image of the Lady Garden in 1950 , are on glass , stereoscopic slides . Most others are prints .
The Archives has begun a multi-year project to digitize these images and help preserve this rich history . Led by Archivist David McAllister , the team must organize , scan , digitally preserve and then disseminate the images .
This is no small task and requires a collaborative effort for success . The organizing of the photos was spearheaded by Integrative Studies student Liam Malone . The entire circulation team scans the photographs using a program that helps restore the original luster to the images . The Archivist saves the image files and then uploads them to the Archives photo website . To date , almost 2,500 pictures have been digitized !
