Keeping You Safe: PLA Reopening Playbook August 2020 | Page 31
Policy for Required Trainings
During a Pandemic
Purpose:
In an increasingly global and highly interconnected world, infectious diseases like
influenza can spread with lightening speed causing widespread illness and death. In
the event of a pandemic or other health crisis, it is the PLA’s responsibility to take
measures to protect its students, staff, and their families from potential exposure to
disease. One such measure is training all staff in best practices and mitigation
practices.
Our Guiding Principles:
Keep the PLA community safe
Continue to serve our students with the highest standards
Do our part to slow community spread of the virus where there appear to be
outbreaks, so that the most vulnerable people are able to get the care they need
Scope:
This policy applies to all employees without exception in the event of a pandemic or
similar health crisis.
Guidelines:
Employees will be required by the school to participate in various trainings in an
effort to mitigate the risk of spreading an infectious disease within the workplace.
Trainings will be offered on a virtual platform that may be accessed from a
computer and/or smartphone.
Employees are responsible for completing the requisite trainings by the deadline
communicated for completion.
Completion of all said courses will be tracked by the human resources
department, the training department, and/or the supervisor.
Trainings may be issued throughout the year given the fluid nature of the
pandemic. A reasonable timeframe to complete said trainings will be
communicated upon assignment.
An employee who does not complete the trainings by the designated completion
date may be disciplined up to and including termination.
