George Go study abroad Studied abroad at Appalachian State University Immerse yourself in a different country and culture for an unforgettable and life-changing experience. Most of our courses will release you for a semester in your second year to attend one of our 70 partner institutions in the USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Europe, Japan, Korea or Hong Kong. You don’t need to speak a foreign language because all of the modules are taught in English. Don’t forget: employers recognise that studying abroad takes a bit of resourcefulness, and proves you can cope in unfamiliar circumstances. Study abroad was an eye-opening experience and one of the best decisions I have made. My time abroad positively shaped me as a person and I am also very happy to have made friends from around the world that I am still in regular contact with. keele.ac.uk/studyabroad Do something completely different One of Keele’s most deeply held beliefs is that a broader education produces more well-rounded graduates. So instead of doing a single subject as your degree, why not add another subject to create a dual honours or a major-minor degree? You could also take unrelated modules, called electives, to give you a grounding in something completely different – like astronomy, sociology or volunteering. And if you’re thinking of travelling after you graduate, you could take a TESOL qualification, allowing you to teach English almost anywhere in the world. Volunteer Become r ee a volunt We’re proud to be the first UK university to have a Volunteer Centre branch, and its impact is massive: it generated around 10,000 hours in 2013-14. We advertise lots of meaningful volunteering jobs and can help you find a suitable position as well as offering training and support. You might even win one of our annual volunteering awards!
