Law and
Criminology
If you’re interested in criminal justice, civil wrongs,
the law of the EU, human rights and ethics and
morality in society, studying a challenging and
intellectually exciting course within the areas
of Law and Criminology could be for you.
At Keele, you can explore core legal and criminological subjects and
choose from a range of electives. You will have an opportunity to
examine aspects of sociology, morality, history, politics, economics
and psychology and the purposes and policies behind legislation
and punishment, and consider more practical issues such as policing,
investigation and the media.
Undertake an LLB (Law, or Law with Criminology, or Politics, or
Business) to support a career within the legal professions and a
wide range of other sectors or study Criminology to understand
the theory and practice of crime and justice. Alternatively, you
can combine these subjects with each other, or a breadth of other
subjects to provide an exciting interdisciplinary degree programme
suited to your interests.
We pride ourselves on developing career-ready graduates and
our research-led environment, moot court, and opportunity to
work as a Community Legal Companion, with the innovative
CLOCK programme, which was pioneered at Keele, will all
contribute to strengthening your skills, experience and CV.
Studying Law and Criminology opens up a wide range of career
opportunities across local and national government and the
voluntary sector, or in the fields of crime reduction, offender
rehabilitation or community safety. With any of these degrees, you
could also undertake further study or training to allow you to work
as a probation officer, social worker, youth worker, prison officer,
solicitor or barrister.
