Biology
Key Information
Why study this course?
Biology at Keele focuses on the amazing world of organisms – from
how they’ve evolved to their relationships with the environment and
each other.
Keele takes a broad approach to biology, examining the diversity
of life and its evolution from the geological past. You’ll consider the
complexity of biological processes and mechanisms at molecular, cellular,
organismal and ecosystem levels, exploring related philosophical and
ethical issues. You’ll sample, record and analyse data in the field and in
our excellent labs, and learn how biology can help to improve the quality
and sustainability of life. Complete this course over three years, or add
an extra year with an industrial work placement between the second
and third year. You can choose to study Biology at Keele as a single
honours programme or combined with another subject for dual honours
(including major and minor routes).

My Keele degree has certainly allowed me to blossom, and gain confidence within the working
world. Both schools offered modules to suit all tastes and specialisms and a fantastic range
of field courses. Most of all, staff show great belief, support and help you to grow not only
academically, but as a person too. For me, it made for a fantastic experience, leaving me with fond
memories of my time at Keele. A few months after graduating from Keele, I was offered a position
at an Environmental Organisation as a "Green Energy Officer". Keele made me...who I am today.
