Get Involved
Activities
The KeeleSU Activities team co-ordinate
opportunities for you to be engaged, get involved
and make the most of your time at Keele. This means
you can try something different, gain a new skill
and enhance your employability. The team covers
a really broad range of activities, including
supporting our huge range of societies.
Societies
A society is a group of students who have a shared
interest in a subject, course, leisure activity or
a political or religious belief. They provide the
opportunity for students to come together to
express and share their views and passions. All
societies have student executive committees who
benefit from training delivered by Activities, so you
can get involved and improve your leadership and
communication skills. Joining a society is great way
to meet new people and, above all, societies are
great fun! Societies are affiliated to the Students’
Union and receive support and funding from KeeleSU.
We’ve got over 100 societies including Drama,
Bhangra, Sci-Fi and Poker, to name just a few.

Volunteering
Volunteering is one of the most rewarding things
that you can do and it’s so easy to get involved and
start making a difference. Volunteering can enhance
your whole student experience and connect you
with the local area so that you can see the impact of
your work. By getting involved you will develop and
enhance your skills. These skills can help you increase
your employability and advance your personal
development. You can even gain Volunteering
Awards and have your hard work recorded on your
Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR).
At Keele University, there is a volunteering elective.
This is worth 15 credits towards your degree.
Volunteering can be part of your course or help
you with some aspects of your course. You can gain
experience or research a particular area in a real
world environment.
When volunteering, you are meeting new people,
maybe in groups that you wouldn’t normally spend
time with, who will have a substantial impact on your
student experience.
In 2013-2014 Keele students completed an amazing
10,991 hours of volunteering; this is the equivalent
of £54,738 being put back into the economy.
Will you make a difference and get involved
with KeeleSU Volunteering?
