BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT International Business and Law Overview This new and innovative programme has been designed to deepen your understanding of the contemporary global business world and to enable you to develop the attributes you’ll need to succeed in this highly competitive market. You will study the Law modules most relevant to this field including contract, company and European Union law, alongside international business, comparative business cultures, and international business strategies in an intellectually coherent programme. In addition, you’ll be supported in pursuing a ‘sandwich’ year placement in industry and will have the opportunity to engage with the strong alumni networks enjoyed by Keele Management School and Keele School of Law. The International Business and Law programme offers: • An intellectually, coherent structured undergraduate programme across two key disciplines central to global business • A co-taught module ‘Law in a Business Context’, engaging students directly with real-world business concerns First year Core modules: • Legal Skills • Business Law • Introduction to International Business • Global Business Environments • Legal Systems Electives include: • Languages • Management in Context • An opportunity to spend a year abroad, or in industry, as part of your programme. • Markets and Hierarchies • Dedicated induction and support for this distinct cohort. • Foundations of Human Resource Management Course content Second year Core modules: International Business and Law is designed by the two schools to ensure that students develop a critical understanding of the challenges of global business activities, located within a clear understanding of the legal frameworks that shape the operation of international business at UK, EU and international levels. In order to support you, we ensure you develop key legal skills and attributes in relevant modules and ally them to a thorough exploration of the ‘nuts and bolts’ of fundamental business skills and knowledge. The International Business and Law programme at Keele offers an authentic blend of management knowledge and methods designed to give students leading-edge opportunities in the highly competitive world of business. It integrates this with a carefully structured and incremental development of relevant legal knowledge and methods to support, for example, the operation of contracts and company law and ensures that students can locate these issues within a genuinely international context. 130 In order to assist you in your understanding of the intersection of these issues, you will be supported by bespoke induction sessions delivered jointly by Keele Management School and the School of Law. Link tutors from each school will meet with you to support your learning across the disciplines.
