Environmental Studies
Overview
Environmental Studies is distinct from Environmental
Science: it challenges the assumption that
environmental questions are relevant only to earth
scientists and geographers. Environmental studies
is the interdisciplinary study of the impacts of human
systems, actions and values on environments and
other species with the aim of finding solutions that
are ecologically sustainable and socially just. It draws
on the intellectual traditions of a range of disciplines
across the social sciences and humanities. Our course
is firmly grounded in the disciplines of politics,
international relations and philosophy.
