Newcastle-under-Lyme is the closest town
to campus, with a friendly and welcoming
atmosphere. The modern shopping area hosts
a variety of shops, restaurants and coffee shops,
and is within walking distance to four big
supermarkets. A daily market takes place selling
everything from fruit to furniture. The eight
screen Vue cinema is surrounded by a number
of restaurants, bars and traditional pubs.
Close to the centre are a variety of gyms,
including the Jubilee2 with swimming pool.
The New Vic Theatre offers reduced prices for
students, showcasing a range of plays, concerts
and exhibitions in the theatre-in-the-round.

The city centre is great for shopping, culture
and nightlife. The Intu Potteries Shopping Centre
has over 90-high street shops and a traditional
market. The Hive at the Intu Potteries is a newly
developed leisure centre with a growing number
of restaurants as well as a nine screen Cineworld
cinema. Stoke-on-Trent’s cultural quarter hosts
two theatres, and a range of creative and
entertainment venues. The Sugarmill is great
for live music, while the Victoria Hall is a popular
venue on the comedy circuit.
The Potteries Museum is home to the famous
Staffordshire Hoard. Various pottery factories,
such as Emma Bridgewater and Wedgewood,
offer pottery tours, decorating experiences
and shopping, where you’ll get a feel for
Stoke-on-Trent’s history. For football fans,
Stoke City Football Club is not far from the
city centre.
