LLB (Hons)
Why study this course?
On this interdisciplinary law degree, you'll get to understand how legal topics fit within politics,
developing your knowledge of how law works within the context of the world around us.
On Law with Politics, you will learn about the theory and practice of law and
develop an understanding of its social, political, historical and comparative
contexts. You'll have several opportunities to develop your practical skills
including client interviewing, mooting (practising oral arguments) and may
volunteer as a Community Legal Companion with our innovative CLOCK
programme, or in our Divorce or Commercial Law Legal Advice Clinics.
You will explore the importance of politics in society, considering the
development of political policy and the principles of freedom and equality.
What will this mean for my future?
This degree will provide excellent preparation for a wide range of careers.
You’ll study both law and politics as distinct subjects, but you’ll consider
where they intersect as disciplines. This programme is accredited by the
Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board and is a
qualifying law degree, offering the current professional exemptions you need
to train to practise as a solicitor or barrister.
It also opens up a range of other careers, some requiring further study or
training, including the police, probation, prison or courts services, human
rights, transnational law, central or local government, and as an assistant or
researcher for an MP.
Accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board*
