If you weren’t an academic what would you be?
Teresa Oultram
I’ve been very fortunate to have already had two
different careers, first within management in industry
and now as an academic. What I’ve loved about both is
being involved in making a positive difference. So any
role would have to have an element of that. I’m also
fascinated with today’s technological advancements
and the possibilities they offer, so that would be an
interesting area to work in.
What would you say to a prospective KMS student?
For all prospective KMS students, my advice would be
don’t be afraid, just come on in and experience the
wonders of Keele. There’s something for everyone and
you’ll soon feel as if you belong. For mature students,
I’d say take the plunge, you’ll never know where it
might lead you (I was a mature student on a PG course
at Keele just over 10 years ago and it led to a whole
new exciting career in academia).
Any advice you would give to a current KMS student?
Teresa Oultram
Lecturer in Management
Following a successful career as a senior manager in
the FMCG sector, Teresa changed direction to become
an academic when she joined KMS in 2011 as a Lecturer
in Management. She has brought to the School her
expertise in European Supply Chain, Production
Planning, Operations and Project Management.
Take advantage of the opportunities that Keele and
being a student has to offer. Try new things, enjoy
the diversity, embrace and engage in the learning
experience. Making the most of your time at Keele
will also help to open up opportunities for the future.
If you could visit any country in the world, which
would it be and why?
I don’t have any particular preference in a country
to visit. I believe that every place offers beauty,
strangeness, as well as familiarity if we only take time
to experience it.
