10 | KEELE MANAGEMENT SCHOOL KEELE MANAGEMENT SCHOOL | 11 MA Human Resource Management Key Programme Features The MA Human Resource Management programme provides an in-depth study of the theory and practice of Human Resource Management, Labour Management and Industrial Relations. It provides an excellent foundation for careers in the public and private sectors, self employment or academic study. By examining the contemporary problems and issues in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations you will acquire an excellent foundation for a broad range of careers in both the public and private sectors, or even in setting up your own businesses. Recent graduates have progressed to careers with the British Transport Police, Cartier and Hershey. During your studies you will have the opportunity to choose between an Applied Company Research (ACR) project or a dissertation. You will also be able to put theory into practice (during the taught part of your course) in workshops, run by external experts. Students who have previously chosen ACR projects have worked on projects such as researching the impact on morale, productivity, safety and security of using ‘passive’ tracking for a biometrics company and evaluating the introduction of a stakeholder management scheme and existing HRM practice for a manufacturing company. keele.ac.uk/kms The programme will suit UK, European Union and International students who have a good first degree in Human Resource Management, or other relevant qualifications or experience. Chartered Institute of Personnel Development The programme has been accorded CIPD approval and students who successfully complete the course will be entitled to associate membership of the CIPD. Student membership will be paid by Keele for students during their course. This will provide access to additional information resources and opportunities for networking through the local CIPD branch. The CIPD is the professional body for HR and people development whose internationally recognised professional qualifications are a great way to acquire the essential underpinning knowledge and skills needed to become an effective HR practitioner. “This course provides countless skills that can be applied in a wide variety of situations in the future. My applied company research project required me to work with a company, learning how all the parts of their business operate. It is very interesting to compare the practicalities of their operations to the theoretical knowledge that we have learned throughout the two semesters. I am looking forward to what comes next and I am confident that wherever I end up working, the skills that I have learned from this course will prove to be invaluable.” Cody Thomas, MA Human Resource Management 2016/17 For further information visit keele.ac.uk/pgtcourses/humanresourcemanagement
